He turned to face him with a small smile, setting the papers in his hand down on the table. “Yes, there is food, plenty of it. Dinner will be served shortly, but if you don’t wish to wait, you don’t have to. Something can be prepared for you in the meantime.” He straightened his pile on the table, preparing to leave the rest for later.“Are you feeling better now, since your bath?" He folded his hands nearly behind him, stepping away from the table to join the other. He felt it was his duty to make sure their guests were comfortable, and at ease with their surroundings.
Achilles watched this curious man with an air of wonder, he didn’t know all that much about elves and it was hardly surprising as they were not often seen in the company of those unlike themselves. He felt almost a kind of shudder run through him, he didn’t know how many humans had been privvy to the inner workings of the elves. He didn’t know how many of them had even allowed others in, he didn’t know if he was allowed in. One elf had allowed him entry but would the lord?
‘Yes, thank you, much better, much cleaner, I’ll be honest, I haven’t taken a bath in a while, I was starting to really feel it.’
He laughed a little and then fell silent again, looking around himself curiously, the back to Lindir. He was a very handsome man.
'What do you do here?’
“I won’t be too far. And one of the maidservants will bring you something to wear. She can lead you to me when you are finished, if you wish, and i will show you around.” He gave a small bow before leaving the room and heading to find one of the maidservants.
Several moments later, a young she-elf stepped into the room with clean clothes that were similar to the ones he was already wearing. She then bowed before heading out the door. ”I will be just outside if you need anything.” She then left him in peace while Lindir tended to his duties, awaiting his return.
He took the clothes gratefully. It did not take him long to clean himself up in the warm water, he washed the dirt away from his hair and skin and it restored to him the angelic glow he had been blessed with. He was golden of hair and of skin, eyes of a deep brown and he looked so very different to the elves around him.
It was not hard for him to find Lindir again, he was brought to the man’s side by the female elf and left there to call his attention. He cleared his throat and moved to stand in his line of sight, a little smile on his face.
‘Did you mention food?’
“Clean clothes will be provided for you, if you wish.” He smiled softly and nodded. They kept plenty of extras on hand. They got more than a few stray visitors in need, and felt it was only fair.He led the other towards the bath chamber and opened the door. ”Take as much time as you wish. If you wish to come find me when you’re finished, you may. I’ll likely be in the library, as I do the majority of my work there.”
Achilles pressed his lips together as the other man spoke, he was unsure on whether he’d really want to wear what they were wearing, but then again it looked comfortable.
‘That would be much appreciated. I.. I will clean up and join you. Hopefully I may be able to eat something when I do?’
He was curious about this place, exploring the woods, the people, looking at them he had seen only men so far. A colony of just men seemed an easy way to live, he thought, debates would be few and far between. He looked around the bath chamber with a hum of appreciation and leaned down to touch the water, he assumed it was from a spring. It was warm.
'Though I fear I may get lost.’
“Are they not often one in the same?” He turned to regard the other that now walked next to him. His weapons were sheathed, but at the ready, just in case this stranger attempted to pull something sneaky. The rest of the walk back was pleasant enough, with no further interruptions or delays.Once at the gate, he stopped and turned to the blond. ”This is Imladris, or Rivendell, as it is known in the common tongue. Please, come inside. I will see to it that a room is prepared for you right away. You may eat and bathe if you wish.” He smiled briefly before turning to see the tasks done. ”I will also inform my lord of your arrival. I’m sure he’ll be pleased to meet you.”
‘I suppose they are,’ he replied.
It didn’t take long for them to reach their destination and he let his eyes travel the woods, the gates, the people that surrounded him. He was very much out of place amongst them, their robes were long and lavish and his own clothes were torn and short; trousers, leather. He smiled regardless, though,
'That is very kind of you, I should like to bathe, yes, but I am lacking in clean clothes. Perhaps there is somewhere I may wash those, too?’
“I am from Imladris. It’s just on the other side of these woods. I am returning there now. We have been away for some time and we are weary, eager to get back home.” He kept an eye on the stranger, watching his every movement carefully.“You are welcome to join us if you are in need of a place to stay for the evening. My lord Elrond is very hospitable, and will offer room and a meal.” He began to turn away too keep walking.
“You are not obligated, though. You may come if you wish. Otherwise, do be careful. As you have seen, it can be dangerous here.”
Achilles was more than happy to take up his offer. The other elves had been nice enough, eventually, and he saw no reason why these ones would not end up the same way. They were not at etheral, these, he thought, looking at Lindir, but more normal. They seemed more human.
He was glad for the brown hair rather than the blonde. He smiled a little and hopped down from his log and moved to follow the other man. He wore long robes and Achilles wondered how he managed to walk through the woods in, what was essentially, a dress. He was in trousers and a loose shirt, breezy and cool in the day, but the cape kept him warm at night.
‘Danger is of little consequence, it is cowards I worry about.’
